What is Open Science 101?
According to NASA themselves, “NASA Open Science is a transformative initiative by NASA aimed at advancing open science practices, promoting transparency, and maximizing the impact of scientific research. By fostering collaboration and providing training and resources, the initiative empowers researchers to embrace open science principles and revolutionize the way science is conducted. NASA Open Science is part of NASA’s Open Source Science Initiative within the agency’s Science Mission Directorate.”
Why take this course?
You’ll learn about the complex world of creating, researching, sharing, and publishing scientific work in ways that are maximally beneficial to both you and the broader scientific community. Throughout the course, I was introduced to methods of research planning, documentation, and even entire communities I never knew existed before. The NASA Open Science course is a wealth of information, offered to benefit all. The return on investment is truly fantastic, you only pay with your time. I know I’ll be a better researcher because of the information NASA provided, and I found many of the Open Science success stories they shared to be genuinely inspiring.
